With Thanksgiving just a few days away, I think it’s time to discuss one of my favorite treats of all time; Caramel Apples. The deliciously sweet and crispy apple… the warm, soft and chewy caramel… and when combined…magic.
Some people think that these treats are difficult and time consuming to make. But if fact, using caramel squares and a few simple ingredients, they can be made with relative ease.
This recipe calls for the following:
- 6 apples
- 6 wooden sticks
- 1 package individually wrapped caramels
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1. Place 1 wooden stick in each apple,
2. Melt caramels, along with water, in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until melted caramels are smooth,
3. Stir in vanilla extract
4. Finally, dip each apple in the caramel and place on aluminum foil to cool.
From here there are dozens of toppings and creative ways of sprucing up your apples. Whether you want to add chopped nuts or crushed oreo cookies, the possibilities are endless. And even if you love the taste of caramel apples but don’t have time to make them, then try these delicious caramel apple pops! They are sure to satisfy you caramel apple sweet tooth.

Taste the Flavor of Real Cherry and Chocolate with Cherry M&M’s
Among the holiday sweets, cherry M&M’s are one seasonal favorite worth remembering outside of Christmas. With their distinct taste and scent reminiscent of real cherry cordials, it’s sure to appeal to cherry lovers everywhere at any time of the year.
By simply opening a pack, you can already tell the difference: a sweet cherry scent that’s unique to this particular candy. This scent is also quite strong, so you might want to keep a container handy unless you’d like everything to smell like cherries. Of course, with such a sweet scent, there is definitely the promise of great taste. Sure enough, these chocolate treats don’t fail to impress with a sweet, maraschino cherry taste— completely different from the sometimes-medicinal taste you might expect from most cherry candies.
Packaged in all reds, these cherry M&M’s feature two colors: burgundy and crimson red, which are sure to add to any festive atmosphere.
Besides serving the usual pumpkin or sweet potato pie for dessert, you can make Thanksgiving dinner more interesting by serving creative desserts using all sorts of fall candy.
Creative Thanksgiving desserts come in all shapes and sizes, using tradition as well as breaking away from it. For example, if you’re already serving pumpkin pie, why not improve on what you have and make it a pumpkin pie ala mode?
By adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel syrup, your humble dessert can become a superb treat for both adults and kids alike. You can make it even better with a sprinkling of some of the best fall candy around like Milk Duds, Candy Corn, Raisinets, or chocolate-covered pretzels on top! Now that’s a treat to remember!
Don’t be afraid to try out different combinations of candy on your desserts. You’ll be surprised at how they can make your Thanksgiving dinner even sweeter than it already is!
