Bubble Yum Sour Apple Berry

Bubble Yum is a brand of bubble gum marketed by The Hershey Company.  Introduced in 1975 by LifeSavers, the popular bubble gum was the first soft bubble gum ever. Bubble Yum quickly became so popular among kids and teens that by 1976, LifeSavers had to curtail its marketing so that the production could keep up with the huge demand. In 1977, an urban legend surfaced and had nearly every kid in America believing that the secret to the gum’s softness and long lasting chew came from a secret, but feared ingredient…spider eggs! Sales of the gum plummeted and the LifeSavers Company had to dispel the rumor by buying full page newspaper ads stating the truth. Since then, Bubble Yum has become one of the top selling bubble gums in the U.S.

Ok, I for one am so glad this gum is not made with spider eggs! I hate spiders! With that said, let’s try out this groovy new gum today, shall we candy kids? I am a big fan of Bubble Yum brand of gum. The flavor lasts for forever and it makes the best bubbles! I usually only chew minty, sugar free gum, but every once in a while it’s great to chew “kid??? gum and make enormous bubbles. Makes me feel young again. Bubble Yum gum is known for their many flavors and this is the newest one. The gum is bright green with little red flecks in it. It tastes like green apples, cherries and raspberries and there are sour “flavor crystals??? strewn throughout each piece. I think these are the red flakes that I saw earlier. It adds a sort of crunch to the gum, making for a neat texture combination with the chewy gum square. This gum is great! It’s just the right mix of sweet and sour without being too tart. As usual, I can blow the biggest bubbles with this gum, but I gotta look out…I don’t want them to end up in my curly hair – that would be rough to get out!

Gold Mine Nugget Bubble Gum

There’s gold in them there hills boys. Espeez Gold mine bubble gum that is.  This uniquely packaged bubble gum was a real big hit back in the 70’s and for those of us that enjoy the nostalgia of retro candies and bubble gum, this is a very special treat. This particular gum comes in what appears to be a miniature burlap sack, but when opened you find dozens of little golden nuggets of bubble gum fun. It makes me almost wish I were a gold miner in the early 1800’s. Dirty, unshaven, with sore butt cheeks from riding a mule up a hill for nine hours straight. But it will be worth it when I reach the small flowing brook that is rumored to have huge flakes of gold just waiting for those diligent souls that spend weeks on end sifting through the river bed. I find myself clinging to nothing but the frail hope that maybe, just maybe all those years of hardship on my step-fathers farm may finally be over and my dreams will finally materialize in the form of beautiful golden nugget. I haven’t bathed in weeks and I have been forced to live off of roasted squirrels and wild berries, but soon very soon all of the hardship, braving the wild, and finally having to eat my friendly mule that helped me up the mountain…….it will all be worth it.

It didn’t always have a happy ending for most of those poor souls that risked everything they had for a chance at early retirement. But fortunately you are able to have your own bag of golden nuggets at a fraction of what it cost those early pioneers. Not to mention there is very little chance of freezing to death in a snowstorm or getting eaten alive by a pack of ravenous wolves.  The gum itself is rather tasty, the only way I can describe the flavor is well, tooty-fruity. The only real problem I had was that it was so gooey after a couple minutes of chewing on it that it started to stick to my fillings. Which If I do say so myself was a rather unpleasant experience. I would take eating barbecued squirrel any day over gum that sticks to my fillings.

Bubble Juice

The first thing that caught my attention about this product is the unique choice for the packaging. Boasting that these little bubble gum nuggets are made with real fruit juice, the marketing department must have made the decision to put them in what looks like a miniaturized juice box. The gum itself comes in a form that looks just like the little blue pebbles that belong on the bottom of a fish tank. Thankfully they taste a little bit better then that, just not for very long. The flavor was gone in what seemed like less then a minute, and after that I could have been chewing on a pencil eraser for all I knew. At least the “juice carton??? packaging it came in had a word jumble game on the side to distract me from realizing how quickly the flavor was gone. To top it all off the gum turned my entire mouth blue for about an hour and a half. Other than that this gum was okay but there is a whole lot of other bubble gum I would purchase before buying this brand and it’s gimmick-laden packaging.

Skittles Bubble Gum X-Treme

Skittles has some of the best ideas for candy ever, and they always seem to turn out fantastic. Xtreme Fruit Skittles bubble gum is no exception. The flavors are truly extreme, and they just burst in your mouth. Unlike regular Skittles this candy will last longer because it’s a gum. The best part about the new Skittles bubble gum is that the flavors go together incredibly well. I can pop in a tangerine and a blue raspberry at the same time and the flavor tastes even better.

“My favorite combination would have to be green apple and tangerine because they are both sour, and they compliment each other very well,” comments Natalie.  “I usually don’t pick out the favors I prefer to just open the cool box and pop in several and see if I can guess what I got,” adds the frequent gum chewer, Pablo. The box is indeed easy and unlike any other. It keeps the gum safe inside, along with the wonderful flavors, while is still easy to open.

The pieces are nice and small so that it isn’t at all bad to have ten at the same time. I personally like to start off with one small piece of gum, and then as it starts to lose its flavor I take another one and just keep adding until I have just the perfect sized gum to make the perfect sized bubble. Skittles has truly outdone itself by creating this new masterpiece that is delicious, long lasting, and easy to open and close.

Cry Baby Gum

If you love gum and sour candy then look no further because Cry Baby Bubble Gum is the perfect gum for you. Cry Baby Bubble Gum is the best sour gum because it actually tastes sour. There are other types of gum that say they are sour, when really they are not. Unlike most sour gum, Cry Babies don’t just have sour powder in the inside; instead they are all around sour and don’t lose flavor quickly.

Because Cry Babies don’t have powder in the middle it is easier to just bite half and save the rest for later. “Sometimes I can’t finish a whole ball of gum. Cry Baby gum makes it easy to just chew half and not spill powder everywhere. It also makes it easier to share,” says a satisfied candy lover. Cry Babies are also made by one of the greatest and the original bubble gum producers, Dubble Bubble, which gives you the extra reassurance that it will satisfy your sour-loving taste buds.  This gum comes in five fantastic flavors: sour lemon, cherry, apple, berry, and orange. In the packaging there are two of almost every flavor. If you would like to get more of the same sour, delicious flavor then you can just pop another one out. If you would like to mix it up and create a new flavor then you can get two or more different flavors and experiment. Cry Baby Bubble Gum is the best, original sour gum and the taste proves it all.
