He has a birthday coming up and I would love to surprise him with some. Chocolate covered with a buttery tasting caramel or something; I think it had peanuts, too. If anyone can help, please, please, please do! Edith M. Patterson <walnut@telapex.com> McComb, MS USA - Fri Apr 2 01:59:32 1999 I am trying to remember the name of a candy that I haven't seen on the market in several years. All I can remember was that it came in various fruit flavours and was chewy, sort of like Starburst. It was also rectangular and the center was darker than the outside. If anyone can remember the name of this candy, please e-mail me at: crysania@indstate.edu Thanks a lot!! Michelle <crysania@indstate.edu> Terre Haute, IN USA - Fri Apr 2 01:34:31 1999 Hi, Iam looking for a GERMAN CANDY called Kinderbon, I believe its a taffy(chewy) candy. Thank you so much- and yes- I am addicted to candy!!! tami ann wilson <tamiw@swbell.net> cleveland, ok USA - Wed Mar 31 02:28:13 1999 Hi. I just wanted to say that candy isn't just a thing to eat, it's also a lifestyle! I'm a candyraver, and I love beads and candy and gum and lollypops and hugging my friends and being happy all the time but that's probably just because i eat too much sugar. YUMMY eat candy <i810es@hotmail.com> Hempstead, NY USA - Tue Mar 30 21:58:13 1999 I simply adore candy, though, now that all of my teeth are gone, I regret all of that candy that I ate as a child. Beware young children. Nina Richardson <ninric312@excite.com> USA - Tue Mar 30 13:08:31 1999 Two quick and easy recipes for candy were given to me on Saturday. The first was originally found in an Amana microwave cookbook from 1977! Tastes just like fudge if you don't have the real thing nearby: Get a bowl and put one teaspoon of vanilla, one stick of butter, and pound of powdered sugar, 4 ounces coco, and two ounces of milk into it. Do not stir. Put into your microwave for 2 minutes or until butter melts. THEN stir. The second recipe is not really a recipe but for Bonomos turkish taffy lovers. We all know now that it is no longer made; however, I hear if you microwave a marshmellow for a bit the taste is very similar to Bonomos Turkish taffy Vanilla. I have tried neither recipe but will try both soon - if anyone tries either please post to the board and tell us the results! Candy Direct <steve@candydirect.com> San Diego, CA USA - Mon Mar 29 19:40:57 1999 My favorite candy is Toberlone's Twilight dinner mints. They look similar to Andes mints in size and shape, but not in flavor and texture. Imagine Toberlone's creamy chocolate with crispy, not rice krisipes but a sugary crispy mint filling. Excellent, different, and delicious but be careful you might eat the whole box. I did and had to buy two boxes the very next day. :) winnie <wni413> USA - Sun Mar 28 06:27:05 1999 Orange Toberlone's were impossible for me to find at regular grocery stores. At Commissaries they are everywhere. The person that was looking for then should ask someone with access to a commissary(military grocery store)or a PX or BX to get the yummy chocolate orange. I started looking for the after reading about them here and I was about to give up when I saw them at the commissary. They come in dark chocolate and milk chocolate. I bought milk chocolate and it was magnificent. I had to hide it because everybody was sneaking some. Beware, no one can be trusted once they have tasted an Orange Toberlone, so do yourself a favor HIDE IT!!!! LOL winnie <wni413> USA - Sun Mar 28 06:20:53 1999 The gum that has liquid centers are called Freshen Up. They are made by Warner-Lambert in Mexico. I just bought some during a road trip on Spring Break. They come in spearmint and cinnamon. I remember that there was a blue flavor too but they didn't have it. winnie <wni413> USA - Sun Mar 28 06:09:02 1999 CANDY CANDY CANDY ME WANT CANDY CANDY GOOD YUM CANDY! doodle <not giving my e-mail> rochester, ny USA - Sun Mar 28 02:39:53 1999 When I was a teenager during the middle 50's,our small local mom and pop grocery store carried the most delicious candy bars from Hollywood candy co. in Centralia,Illinois. hollywood,Big Time and Payday. KINDER SURPRISE EGGS! O. Campbell canada - Mon Mar 22 18:24:13 1999 Smarties have lost their squeek! I was looking after some neighborhood kids, bought them some candy. I always teach them stuff that will drive their parents insane, how to make bubble fluid, paper airplanes, their own play doh etc. Just silly like that I suppose. However, when i went to show them one of my favorate childhood noises all i got was an inaudible hiss. One can simply not use a Smartie box as a horn anymore because of the new way they seal them. I have noted however that raisn boxes still work. ...just an observation of mine. O. Campbell <campbeos@pictou.nscc.ns.ca> stellarton, NS Canada - Mon Mar 22 18:07:08 1999 WHAT A COOL SITE! We used to get them at a small candy store on a private country club called Yost Lake in Stillwater, Oklahoma. We have been looking and looking for these candies...even if all we find out is who used to make them. If you have ever heard of this candy or know anything about it, please write. Joanne <Tennissho@aol.com> charlotte, nc USA - Thu Dec 3 16:15:57 1998 Lots of questions this week - sevenup candy was discontinued - we will watch for long ranger candy - thinking about this one. Bee bee size candy sounded like juju bees until you send also comes in mint flavor - probaly not made anymore? Blue pillow mints you may be able to get but would have to order like 500 pounds from same manufacturer of the assorted colors because they would have to make special for you - unless it was a small company who would be able to custom make candy easier. We have thin ribbon candy in stock. Horlicks is a popular candy question - no luck in finding yet - but we are still looking for the candy source. Cable car candy I believe is owned by Knudsens candy - write us and we can find the phone number for you. We received a pallet fresh from the factory today! Once this shipment is gone - they tell us we will have to wait a long long long time to get another shipment. The price is $18.75 per package of 20 packs (each pack has 5 sticks of gum). This is "specialty" gum that is very rare - not priced like Wrigleys. This specialty gum is FRESH - it will soon become very rare again & whomever still carrys this product will only have stale product left to sell. Take a look at past messages from our chat archive to see how many people want this product :) We have Beemans, Adams Clove, and Adams Black Jack. All made by the same company. Candy Direct <service@candydirect.com> San Diego, CA USA - Wed Dec 2 23:20:55 1998 Does anyone know if they still make the Seven Up candy bar anymore or can tell me where to find it? It was a chocolate covered bar with 7 different and separate "insides". Steve <sj12969@cedarnet.org> Cedar Falls, IA USA - Wed Dec 2 15:30:06 1998 I need help in locating a certain candy. In the 1970's I used to buy a small round hard candy that offered in fruit flavors and mint flavor with liquid centers. They were about the size of a large "bee-bee". We used to buy them losse by the pound in a candy specialty shop in Lightfoot, Virgina (just outside Williamsburg, Va.) In the late 1970"s the store closed and I have not been able to locate any of these since then. I really appreciate anyone that can help me. VA <mussers@pioneerplanet.infi.net> St. Paul, MN USA - Sun Nov 29 04:28:21 1998 As a youngster, I enjoyed a candy bar called,"marathon bar" It was a chocolate covered caramel twist(braided). They were about 12 inches long and the wrapper had a ruler on it. if any one knows where or how to find this candy bar, please E-Mail me with the info. Hope you can procure some for Christmas! Kristi Sadler <ksadler@goodkarmacafe.com> Houston, TX USA - Sat Nov 28 20:23:14 1998 As I read the candy comments, I suddenly recalled a candy that my family adored years back. It was by an English company, Callard and Bowser. The candy was called Treacle- a hard dark molasses rectangle that awkwardly barely fit into your mouth! They made lots of different flavors of candies, but these were the best. When I ask natives of England who are going back for a visit to bring it back, they think I am referring to liquid molasses, called treacle over there. Anyone seen it in recent years? It would blow the minds of my loved ones if it is still made. Kate Lamontagne <Kkamala@juno.com> Holliston, ma USA - Sat Nov 28 12:49:01 1998 Does anyone know if Merckens Chocolates has a website. They were bars which could be frozen and then cracked (kind of like Charleston Chews) - they were flavored (chocolate, vanilla, and I think, strawberry). A friend of mine and I were eating them and he bit into one and his teeth got stuck. He said its like bitting into the taligate of a truck and we started calling them Ranchero's. I still love them. They are great on a cold day and I use them in the stead of those Liquor candies that I am looking for. It is the closest I can buy locally to what I really want. I am so addicted to the Liquorice types of candies that I buy Anise seed and suck on them all day. Whooo the breathmints please The candy I can't find; Once upon a time... There was a Swiss Colony Store in Dothan, AL. The manager of this store had them for sale. They are NOT a Swiss Colony product and Swiss Colony has no idea where the manager of the local store ordered them from. They were in a clear celephane wrapping no distinctive markings. The celephane wasn't even tinted any color. They were hard like my favorite Ranchero's. and they were non-alcohol that I know of. I could buy them in bulk at 14 yrs of age. But they were like Sour whiskey, Daquiry, Martini, etc... Just all kinds of them. and I love them on a cold day. Please let me know if any one knows where I can order them in bulk. Thanks everyone!!! We were getting a bit worried about the old chat board because our programmer said it sometimes crashes after 500 messages. We changed to the new format because we "personally" thought it looked neater. However, if the majority of customers agree with you then we will install a new chat board :) Candy Direct <service@candydirect.com> San Diego, CA USA - Fri Jul 17 08:57:20 1998 Why does the new board have this format? It was much easier to use the other style. Confused USA - Fri Jul 17 08:23:53 1998 What's the difference between the Sweetarts 48ct $14.25 and the Sweetarts original 48ct $14.35? That was a misprint - there is sweetarts original 48 ct. for $14.35 & sweetarts chewy 48 ct for $14.35 - just fixed list because of your message - thanks. I see the rolls listed as Sweetarts rolls original 36ct $23.20 and can't figure how the rolls would cost more than the boxes for less quantity... They cost more because the candy has a higher net weight - larger size candy. To confuse you more we now have sweetarts giant, sweetarts gummy, sweetarts mini chewy, and sweetarts chewy :) Candy Direct <service@candydirect.com> San Diego, CA USA - Fri Jul 17 00:53:35 1998 What's the difference between the Sweetarts 48ct $14.25 and the Sweetarts original 48ct $14.35?
