my favorite candy in all the world was made by the see's candy company of california - in the mid early to mid 80's. they were called malt nougats, a delicious nougat swirled with crunchy malt and covered with see's wonderful milk chocolate. don't know why they stopped making them - they were wonderful. see's makes plain, peanut and rum nougats now, but none can compare. does anyone know of another company making a malt nougat. this is not a mass market candy bar type of candy. (see's now cost @ $12.00 a pound.) so i would be looking for a regional chocolate company that might create a similar candy. any ideas??? much appreciated.

Good news for people who liked Switzer licorice!!! I just called Hershey (800-468-1714, press 2 for non-pasta products, press 5 to talk with a person). When I asked about the Switzer licorice, they told me the product is back on the market. They suggested that I nudge store managers to encourage them to carry the products. It might not hurt to call Hersheys yourself to add to the groundswell of positive opinion and talk with the managers of your favorite stores.

I am looking for anyone who might remember a soft, taffee-like candy wrapped in wax paper. I believe it was called Black Jacks, but it is not the gum. It had three stripes, reddish-pink, white, and black and looked like a piece of taffee. It was mildly licorice-tasting and sweet. I remember this candy from the late sixties as a child. It was kind of rare even then. I would like to know if any aficianadoes remember this treat, the company, the history, etc. I lived in the midwest then. you can e-mail me at Petopoet@mindspring.com

So no leads so far on Pine Brothers Cough Drops. That is too bad, even if someone remembered the manufacturer, maybe the company is still in business and could be persuaded to make them again. I know plenty of buyers.

Hi! I'm curious to know if someone can remember the name of a candy made by Nestle. The candy was white chocolate and had, I believe, crunched up almonds in it. It wa so good. I know it wa out during the 80's. The commercial had something about Aspen in it. There was a woman in a white, flowy dress and something to do with a white horse. If anyone can remember the name please e-mail me. I would appreciate it. Thanks Cristen e-mail add. is: davidsgirl67@aol.com

Does anyone know where I can order TEABERRIES? They are candy decorating sprinkles for cookies/cakes that look like very small cinnamon red hots but taste like the old Clark's Teaberry gum (clove or wintergreen, I think). Hi this is for lotwala@hotmail.com: I think maybe you are looking for Ethel M's chocolates made in Las Vegas, Nevada. They have liquor chocolates, lots of them and they are strong. My husband and I visited the factory in Las Vegas a few years ago and when you get through you get a chocolate. He got a liquor chocolate. Boy, you could smell his breath for ever! They are fine candies and every time I get the chance I buy some. I don't know if they have a website. I have bought them in the airport in Phoenix also. Hope it helps.

Zero Bars are not that difficult to find. They are in several stores in my area such as Wal-Mart, Kroger, and several Party/Dollar type stores, and are usually about .50 cents for the regualar size bar, and .78 cents for the super size bar. If do not have any of these store in your area, contact Hershey. They make them, at least they do now. I can't remember if they made them when they first came out, but I don't believe they did. Anyway, they taste just as good as they did when I first discovered them, some years ago.

I am looking for a special candy that I get often when I go the Cracker Barrel to eat, but they are .50 cents a piece and I would like to find aplace where I can get them cheaper or perhaps make them. They are a marshmelllow with soft caramel on the outside and wrapped in kind of beige paper. They are so wonderful! They use to sell them in the candy dept. of some of the older sears stores. Lifesavers Cremesavers are at most Walmarts, but only for the day or so they come in. Marshall, Mo has people lining up at the door those mornings and cleaning them out. Also, visiting Eugene, Or. last week, their Walmart said one lady bought $140 worth the morning we were there and they had about 25 packages left. Strawberry and Orange are all I've seen, what others are there?? They are sooo good.

I'm looking for creamy party mint wafers that used to come in a box the width of wax paper (but shorter), that were in different colors of orange, pink, green, yellow, and white about the size of a half dollar, smooth on top with lines on the bottom (as though someone took a fork and etched out the bottom). They used to sell them at the neighborhood drugstores in the 60s and 70s, but haven't seen them around anymore. They were my mom's favorite, and would love to know the name of them, who made them, and if they still are available anymore so that we can surprise her with some. I'm thinking ahead a few holiday's and will be looking for my mother and my favorite Easter candy. The are marshmello chickens and rabbits. They are not the flat ones or the peeps that you see available. We used to be able to find them at Woolworth's and Ben Franklin stores. They were sold in a pink box with white lettering. there were pink, yellow, and white chickens and rabbits in each package. We think that there might have been 12 in the package. There was also cardboard dividers between some of the candy. It reminds me of a tic tac toe board. if anyone can help me locate these treats when the time comes it sure will be a nice surprise for my mother. Thanks

I have a sweet tooth that goes way back to my childhood. I used to get a wonderful confection called a cream filbert at a candy store in Kansas City. It consisted of a filbert "panned" in a candy coating that melted in your mouth. They were white and oh so good. I have looked all over for them since and have not been able to find any. Does anyone have any leads?

Anyone remember JUNGLE JOLLIES? 3 flavors I think, a 3" stick-taffy, wrapped in white wrapper with flovor-signifying color at each end. They were made in Argentina in the 70-80s. About a penny apiece. Are they still made? How about DELFA ROLLS? Did they rule or what!

To Marc, about sugar Free Jelly Beans. One word: Sorbital. Any product that includes this, gives a warning that excess consumption, can have this effect on certain sensitive individuals. Well, I'm one of them too. The problem is, almost every sugar free product I have come across, contains it. What I cant figure out, is if it has this effect on some people, why do they insist on putting it in their product in the first place.

I haven't seen these sweet flavored orange sticks for over 20 years now that were cellaphane wrapped and very much resemble the sour straws they have now in raspberry and green apple. These were NOT SOUR, however, just very original! A real one of a kind flavor that I have never found in any other candy -- are they gone forever? I think I was in Georgia when I last ran across them or it may have been Germany but I think it was the states.

Russell Stover has or used to have a puff candy, called Air Puffs, that discribes what you're looking for. My mother and I loved them, but we haven't seen them, at least since the late 80's. The can they came in was mint green, and had 3-D air puffs floating on the cover of the can. But if you really just love the melt in your mouth mint candy, a company out of Georgia called Bob's Candy, has a sugar stick that is wonderful, called Bob's old Fashioned Sugar Stick. You may want to check the web. I believe they have a web page. Hope this helps, Sandra

You can get Bun Bars by sending a note requesting them to the company. It takes about 10 days and I live in Calif. The address is: Pearson Candy Company, attn: Mail Orders, 2140 West 7th Street, P.O. Box 64459, St Paul, MN 55164. Their phone is 651-698-0356. They don't accept credit cards so you send them $13.50 for a box of 24 which includes shipping. You have to specify which ones you want. They have maple, vanilla (my favorite) and caramel. They are sent by UPS so they don't ship to post office box address.

Does anyone know anything about a chocolate lollipop that was sold in Howard Johnson's restaurants many years ago? They had a stenciled picture on the front in white chocolate and the rest of the pop was milk chocolate. I think they were mostly animal pictures. They sold them by the cash register in the early 1970s. I would like more information if anyone knows about these. Are they still made? If so, where can I get them? Any information appreciated. We still have 50 pounds of bulk dino-sour eggs around if you want them - btw, I recently traveled all around Wisconsin and loved Madison - stayed at the Concourse hotel - if you pay $30 extra you can stay at the top of the hotel and get access to a private bar with free drinks and food - all you want! Madison is so quiet and clean - great place!

For the individuals who are searching for Zagnut, Bar None and Jujyfruits: these brands are/were manufactured by Hershey Foods. Bar None has been discontinued. Zagnut and Jujyfruits are still available. You can probably get information on where to buy them by calling Hershey Foods. Also, regarding the question of what month makes up the largest candy sales: Candy volume sales peak during the month of Halloween. Easter and Christmas months are a close second.

BRISTOL...your email kept returning so here's the recipe I have from Hershey's for Foolproof Fudge Cut-outs: 3 cups (1&1/2 12-oz. bags) HERSHEY'S Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips 1 (14-oz.) can EAGLE BRAND Sweetened Condensed Milk (NOT evaporated milk) Dash salt 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional) 1&1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract Line 13X9X2-inch pan with foil, extending foil over edges of pan; set aside. In heavy saucepan over low heat, melt chips with sweentened condensed milk and salt. Remove from heat; stir in walnuts, if desired, and vanilla. Spread evenly into prepared pan. Refrigerate 2 hours or until firm. Use foil to lift fudge out of pan; place on cutting board. Peel off foil; cut into shaps with cookie cutters. Store tightly covered in cool, dry place. Does anyone remember the candy bar called seven-up. At least I think that was the name. It had 7 little squares all hooked together and each one had a different flavored liquid in it. If you do remember who was the maker of it. Hershey's?

I have been looking for 10 years to find a candy by Brachs. Yhey are usually found in the cany tree at the grocery store, where you leave a dime or two and take a piece of candy. They had several flavors of the Brachs chocolate candies. Chocolate covered caramels are the ones I am looking for. Now you can find the other flavors only, even though the caramel is still listed as being in the bin. If anyone can tell me how to get ahold of the Brachs company, I would appreciate it very much.

I remember as a little girl stopping after school at a mom & pop shop that sold a candy called ABBA-ZABBA bars. They were a White Taffy Outer Shell with peanut butter in the middle. It was delicious and I would love to taste it again if it's still being made. Can anyone help with a distributor?
