M&M’s

Back in the day, M&M’s were one of my favorite candies. I think that when you are a kid, you tend to like things that you don’t have to eat all at once, and as we all know, M&M’s are prefect for just that. You can have a few now, a few later and a few to share with friends. They are little, cute and colorful, which of course, kids love. Today, M&M’s come in a variety of colors and flavors, but I am reviewing the plain chocolate M&M’s today.

Sheriff Flashback: When I was around 8 years old, I took a bag of M&M’s to the movie theater and spilled the entire thing before I had a chance to eat any. Much to the dismay of my fellow movie goes (and of course, myself) they made such a racket rolling down the cement floor. Since then, I am reluctant to take a bag of M&M’s to the movie theater.

M&M’s are little chocolate balls that are candy coated. The sugary shells are crisp and the milk chocolaty morsels that lie beneath them are sweet and delicious. They are a simple candy that is fun to eat. You can also use them in your favorite cookie or brownie recipe, as ice cream toppers or just to annoy your friends – they are perfect little projectiles!

M&M’s were first introduced to us in the 1940’s and soon became a favorite of the American GI’s serving in World War II. They were a convenient snack that was (then) packaged in a cardboard tube featuring their famous slogan, “Melts in your mouth, not in your hand???. They were popular with the GI’s due to their infrequent and ever-changing weather conditions, so the slogan fit to a “t???. At that time, the only color of M&M’s sold was brown. Throughout the years, the Mars company has added red, yellow, green, blue, light brown, orange and purple candies to the bags. M&M’s are recognized the world over, making it one of the world’s most beloved candies.
